Are You Using A.I.?

I thought I’d write something about the problems currently faced by U.K. SMEs. There are plenty of them. I particularly wanted to address those areas which cause most stress to small business owners.

Historically, I’d have had to go to the Library and spent hours, days, researching book after book, article after article, trying to find what I was looking for, as well as using my own mind, of course. Does anyone else remember the days of Encyclopaedia Britannica? I would spend days poring through those marvellous, exciting tomes.

This time I tried Chat GPT. Within just one minute, possibly even less, I had a six page answer. It was superb, broken down by category and easy to read.

ChatGPT has covered just about everything. Each section and sub-section was accompanied by an explanatory paragraph. How long would that have taken me to prepare and write in the old days? Rather than onerous, research is now fun.

HOWEVER : one does still have to research the research. AI does not always get it right. What is missing? Will A.I. really put the human writer or copywriter out of business? Not yet, anyway.

What is missing is the human element. How does dealing with all these issues affect those dealing with them? Fraught nerves, bad temper, sleepless night, binging on carbohydrates or alcohol, irrationality, downright bad manners. They are trying to juggle, to multi-task, and it is all too much.

The impact can be tremendous both in the work place and at home.
